Au where when angels die, their grace becomes stars, and one day Cas is killed, but that night Dean notices an extra bright star in the sky, and he’s so broken and damaged that he prays to that star, and then years later when he dies, he notices that star watching him in all of his memories in Heaven, and it watches him even when he settles into one place, and finally one day he prays to the angels until one comes to him and he asks about the star. And the angel just looks up at it and is like “is it any wonder that he would want to watch over you, even in death?” and that’s when Dean puts it together and realizes that even though Cas died forty years ago he’s always been there for him. And he asks if there’s any way for them to be reunited and God makes Dean into a star and puts him right next to Cas so they can be together for eternity.
